About the Item

Created by Bonnie MacLeary, a Texas-born sculptor famed for her "Aspiration" and "Ouch" bronzes, two of several created in the 1920s, this classic Art Deco tile dates from the 1940s, after MacLeary moved to New York and concentrated on ceramic work. Finished with gorgeous purple, ivory and bronze glazes highlighted with gold, this tile depicts the Greek "Aquarius" figure pouring out a jar filled with water and ringed with stars. The tile is signed and retains its original label.
