About the Item

Large blue ceramic planter, on a base, with a Japanese-style decoration. The Bretby sunburst logo is found under the foot and under the pot. With number364A Bretby is an English manufacturer founded in 1882 by Henry Tooth and William Ault; their collaboration ended in 1887. In 1884, they won a gold medal at the London World's Fair and created their 'sunburst' logo. Good general condition, some traces of oxidation (inside), some firing defects (on the glaze) and small chips on the foot (at the edge, where the pot sits).
