Ceramic kittens by Tarcisio Tosin, Italy, 1940
About the Item
Pottery depicting two white kittens made by a Vicentine ceramist, Tarcisio Tosin. Executed circa 1940 with measurements 35x29x18 cm.
He attended the Art Institute in Nove and worked with his father Marco in the "Antonibon" manufactory in Nove di Bassano. In 1914 the family moved to Verona where Tarcisio completed his studies at the School of Arts and Crafts and found work at the "Cassandrini" ceramics factory. In 1928 Tosin moved to Vicenza where he took over the management of the "Fratelli Brotto" ceramic factory, which he took over in 1932, assigning it the name "La Freccia." In the 1930s he made ceramics with popular themes. After the war, the factory also produced porcelain and enriched its expressive horizon through collaboration with new ceramists.
The state of preservation is good. It has a defect in the tail hairline and slight wear in the pink coloration of the legs.
