About P. Ipsens Enke
P. Ipsens Enke was a renowned Danish ceramic workshop founded in 1843 by Peter Ipsen. After his death in 1860, the business was carried on by his widow, Louise Ipsen, and their son, Berthel Ipsen, which led to the name "P. Ipsens Enke".
The workshop gained international acclaim for its reproductions of ancient Greek and Roman ceramic works and participated in world exhibitions, receiving several prestigious awards.
The company produced both terracotta and stoneware products and collaborated with notable artists such as Thorvald Bindesbøll and Axel Salto. P. Ipsens Enke achieved the status of royal purveyor in 1871 and closed in 1955, but their ceramics remain highly valued and can be found in museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the National Museum in Stockholm.
