Dessert plate decorated with a colourful aquatic scene, shining with the delicate gold and silver reflections of the enamel paint. Three small blue fish enhanced with silver swim around golden seaweed. These hand-drawn designs by Catalan artist Diaz-Costa (a contemporary of Salvador Dali) capture the beauty of an intricately detailed underwater world.

Eusebi Díaz Costa (1908-1964) was an artist ahead of his time who understood that the traditional, utilitarian ceramics made at that time in La Bisbal could also become an artistic and decorative object. At a time when the sector was in crisis, she renewed her production and was able to adapt to the aesthetic demands of a new public who mainly spent their summers on the Costa Brava.
