About the Item

Dutch White Delft GADROONED Charger This late 17th Century Charger is made of white ceramic and decorated with a Gadrooning convex shape. Holland has a great tradition of pottery making. Delft pottery originated around the early 1600s and continues to the present day. The type of decoration naturally changes from one century to the next, depending on the fashion of the moment but always maintaining the classic blue and white colors. The variation of objects starts from simple house ornaments like tiles to more complex and important works of art. Landscapes with mills, hunting scenes, seascapes, scenes of Dutch life, oriental scenes, religious motifs or just simple white items were and still are the varied basis of decoration in the Dutch manufacture in Delft.
