About the Item

Large, vibrant French Provincial hand painted faience wall decoration in the shape of a cover, rocaille et décor à la corne pattern. A double cornucopia filled with flowers, flying insects, a large butterfly and a beautiful exotic bird create a lively composition in this joyful piece. Playful central knob in the shape of a charming daisy. Moss green, apricot, yellow, sapphire blue and ochre color scheme. This substantial piece is in very good condition with two nearly invisible, slight hairlines at the side edge, not visible when displayed on the wall. Complete with original metal hanging device. Marked on the back in ochre This pattern is a well known Rouen design dating from the Eighteenth century.
