About the Item

French majolica parrot absinthe or water pitcher by St. Clément. In good condition, the pitcher showcases a vibrant coloration and glaze, making it an excellent decorative piece for any table setting. St. Clément Pottery boasts a rich history dating back to the mid-1700s, with roots established by Jacques Chambrette. The pottery became renowned, earning favor as a supplier to Marie Antoinette. St. Clément majolica is recognized for its subtle color shadings. The collection includes figural jugs or absinthe pitchers depicting various animals, such as ducks, roosters, parrots, pigs, rabbits, cats, monkeys, and poodles. Older pitchers typically bear three-digit numbers, while newer productions feature four-digit numbers. Predominantly crafted in the 1920s, these pieces are cherished relics of St. Clément's rich pottery heritage.
