About the Item
A George Jones Majolica Rooster (Cockerel) teapot, English, ca. 1872, naturalistically modeled as a running cockerel, the tail feathers forming the handle, the open beak forming the spout. Richly glazed in brown, black, green, pink, red, and yellow on a grassy mound base, the reverse with impressed GJ monogram and painted design number 3203 for 'Cockerel Teapot' as found in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archives of the Wedgwood Museum, Barlaston, England, and included in Cluett.
