About the Item
Very Rare and excellent Viennese Ceramic Figure from the late 1920s:
Graceful dancer, posing with her upper body bent forward and with her eyes closed, forming her mouth into a kiss, raising the attached wings of her short blue-green dress at the back, her short dark hair covered by the matching headdress that tapers to a point at the front.
On a cream-coloured, stepped trapezoidal base with shading on the sides, the artist's signature ‘Dakon’ on the upper side behind the figure.
Compare model 5712, group ‘Turteltauben’ (turtle doves), the ‘Dolly Sisters’ cheek to cheek, here as a single figure in a modified pose.
The 'Dolly Sisters' Rosie Dolly (1892 - 1970) and Jenny Dolly (1892 - 1941), known professionally as (the) Dolly Sisters, were Hungarian-American identical twin dancers, singers and actresses, popular in vaudeville and theatre during the 1910s and 1920s. Both sisters also appeared in two silent films.
Designed by STEPHAN DAKON (1904 - 1992), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory.
Design of the model circa 1928.
