Half Moon Jug

About the Item

Echoing the silhouette of a celestial arc, Half Moon Jug by Ilona Golovina is a sculptural ceramic vessel that merges ancient symbolism with contemporary restraint. Handbuilt with a textured, matte surface reminiscent of wind-carved stone or dried earth, this piece balances soft asymmetry with quiet elegance. The jug’s elongated body is anchored on a singular foot, giving it the illusion of floating while remaining firmly rooted. One end terminates in a generous, wide-mouthed spout, while the other curves upward into a delicate handle—offering a visual tension between utility and abstraction. Its pale, unglazed surface accentuates the tactile richness of the clay and invites close observation. Part ritual object, part minimalist sculpture, Half Moon Jug evokes both timelessness and presence—a vessel that carries silence, memory, and form.
