John Rose Coalport TRIO Porcelain Gilded Royal Garter Pattern, Circa 1800
About the Item
This is an early porcelain trio comprising a coffee can, tea cup and saucer, all in gilded patterns, which we attribute to Coalport, John Rose & Co., Shropshire, England, made at the turn of the 18th century, George 111rd period, circa 1800.
All the pieces are well potted and vertically fluted with a slight wavy edge.
The pieces have beautifully hand gilded patterns with the cups having the Royal Garter or Rose pattern. The saucer has a very similar all gilded pattern but with a floral sprig to the centre and compliments the two cups well. All the decoration on these pieces is hand applied gold gilding.
The cups are 2.38 inches high and the saucer has a diameter of 5.5 inches.
We cannot see any markings to the bases of these pieces but please note that the early John Rose Coalport Porcelain pieces like these are mostly unmarked and without a makers stamp.
Similar shaped cups are shown in "A Compendium of British Cups" by Michael Berthoud, pages 23 to 27.
