Large Chinese Export Style Famille Rose Enameled Porcelain Charger, circa 1900

About the Item

A massive famille rose enameled Chinese export style charger, Continental, probably French, circa 1900. The large dish painted in vibrant famille rose enamels in an overall pink tone, with a central design of a pair of long tailed birds perched among peony and plum branches, all in a garden setting. The rim decorated with a diaper ground with blue and yellow chrysanthemums and four reserved cartouches featuring the eight Taoist emblems. With a label on the back mis-identifying the piece as 18th century Chinese Export made for the Compagnie des Indes (French East India Company), and two collection stickers.

In overall good condition, with two small repairs to the rim, as seen in photos. Two short firing cracks to the back of the rim. The enamels still intact and vibrant.
