About the Item
A small round ceramic plate with a pink and green floral design around the edges. The center of the plate is a crisp white glazed ceramic with slight cracquelure. The edges feature hand painted pink roses with green foliage. A raised pattern of dots accents at the outer most edge of the rim. (Moriage style) Gold is under-painted. This piece was made in Japan.
This piece is labeled “Nippon” at the bottom which is another name for Japan. This name change was due to the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890. All goods imported into the United States were required by law to be labeled with their place of manufacture. Thus, Japanese products were stamped "Nippon," an anglicized version of the name the Japanese used for their country.
