Portuguese Earthenware Bowl, Polychrome Decoration
About the Item
Very worn, missing pieces of furniture and colors. Polychrome decoration with the inscription MAFRA in the middle.
With an enamelled surface in earthy tones, predominantly ochre, green and yellowish, which refer to the naturalness of the pigments used in artisanal productions. In the center of the plate, the inscription "MAFRA" stands out, possibly indicating the origin of the piece or an allusion to a specific manufacture, since the village of Mafra has a notable tradition in the production of ceramics.
The edge displays an incised geometric pattern, providing texture and highlighting the handmade character of the object. Stains and color variations on the glazed surface suggest ancient glazing techniques, where control of temperatures and materials gave pieces a unique and unrepeatable appearance.
Very worn, missing pieces of furniture and colours.
