Terra Vessel no.1, One

About the Item

Hand built by New York-based artist Ilona Golovina, Terra Vessel is a one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture that speaks to the rawness of time and erosion. Using traditional coiling techniques and earth-inspired finishes, Golovina constructs a form that feels both ancient and strikingly contemporary. The vessel’s surface is richly textured, echoing oxidized earth and geological decay. Rust tones merge into pale, bone-like surfaces, while a dramatic rupture breaks the silhouette open, inviting contemplation on fragility, transformation, and what is left behind. The torn form functions as both scar and portal—revealing a partially glazed, crackled interior that contrasts the scorched exterior. Rooted in wabi-sabi philosophy and informed by Golovina’s practice of embedding landscapes into her work, Terra Vessel is a meditative artifact—part relic, part imagined future ruin. It stands as a metaphor for the human condition: weathered, imperfect, resilient. Signed by the artist.
