Vintage danish ceramic signed Helle Allpass in the 70s

About the Item

Danish ceramic signed Helle Allpass (1932-2000) in stoneware glazed on the inside. Beautiful and subtle glaze on the inside, contrasting with the rough stoneware on the outside. Signature under the dish: Allpass Danmark Little is known about this ceramist, apart from the testimony of her daughter Signe Lindkvists, now a Danish television presenter. She recently spoke to the press about the end of her mother's life and tells us a rather surprising anecdote. Suffering from Parkinson's disease and not wishing to be deprived of her physical faculties, she had taken the decision to end her life. Before doing so, she wanted to invite her nearest and dearest to a final dinner with a special dish to bid them farewell. She invited 14 people, then sent her daughter to her butcher to order 14 fried pigeons. The butcher told her daughter that this would not be possible this week, but only the following week. Helle Allpass calmly and simply decided to wait and postpone her suicide for a week.

Vintage Danish Glass Vase by Per Lutken for Holmegaard in 1960s
By Per Lutken for Holmegaard
Located in SAINT-YRIEIX-SUR-CHARENTE, FR
Glass vase (H:25cm), design by Per Lutken (1916-1998), published by the famous Danish glassworks Holmegaard. The bluish tone, the thickness of the glass visible at the top is an integral part of the design of this vase, dated and signed underneath. Per Lutken was a famous Danish glassmaker who joined Holmegaard in 1942 and worked there until his death. He contributed to the revival of the glass industry, which was running out of steam at the time, by bringing his pure and timeless style, which has become a classic of Scandinavian design and can be found in many Danish and Swedish homes. He was very productive and for decades created numerous models that made the glassware industry successful in Denmark and around the world. The Holmegaard factory was founded in 1823 in Næstved, southwest of Copenhagen, and started its activity by manufacturing green and brown bottles, and later turned to art glass. Count Christian Conrad Danneskiold-Samsøe bought the Holmegaard estate and realised that the local peat could be used as fuel. He asked the Danish king...
