19th Century French Painted Faience "De Charolles" Decorative Wall Platter

About the Item

Decorate a kitchen wall or a shelf with this important antique platter. Created by Charolles earthenware, in Burgundy France circa 1870, the large hand-painted ceramic plate depicts a center medallion with two cherubs kissing. Above the cherubs, is a winged face flanked by two cranes intertwined with flowing acanthus leafs. The scalloped, flower-shaped rim is richly decorated with delicate floral and foliate motifs in blue, yellow, and green, creating a harmonious and pastoral charm. The vibrant colors and intricate detailing reflect the artistry of Charolles faience. The ceramic plate is in excellent condition, commensurate with age and use, this decorative wall faience would make a remarkable addition to any porcelain collection. Stamped on the underside with the signature flower mark of Faïence de Charolles, further authenticating its provenance. See detailed images for reference. Hanging devise in the back for easy install. Charolles earthenware, or Faïence de Charolles, is a type of French pottery originating in Charolles, Burgundy, since 1844.
