About the Item
A fine French faience wall pocket / vase.
By Geo Martel, founder of the Gaëtan Level ceramics factory in Desvres starting circa 1900.
In the form of a cat climbing with floral markings and glass eyes. It is hollow with an opening at the chest and a cutout for mounting on the wall.
Signed to the underside with Geo Martel's signature mark and "1914 XII".
Simply a wonderful fayence pottery cat!

It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
There are some small flakes to the glaze on the tips of the toes, ears, and tip of the tail. Otherwise, there are some small expected spots of fritting, some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
