Mid Century Dutch Hand Painted Bosh Delft Platter with Pastoral Scene

About the Item

Bring timeless pastoral charm to your table or wall with this vintage Delft-style faience platter by Boch Delft, crafted in Belgium circa 1960. Rendered in classic cobalt blue on a creamy white ground, the finely detailed transfer scene captures a tranquil riverside landscape featuring a traditional Dutch windmill, thatched cottages, and a lone figure rowing across calm waters. The ceramic composition is enclosed within a decorative embossed floral border and inscribed “naar du Chattel”, indicating that the scene is after a work by Dutch painter Fredericus Jacobus van Rossum du Chattel (1856–1917), known for his romantic river and countryside views. The underside bears the "Boch Delfts" mark, identifying the respected Belgian ceramic firm that helped popularize Delft-style ware beyond the Netherlands. This versatile faience piece can be displayed on a wall or used as a serving platter. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with rich blue and white color palette. Perfect for Delft collectors or for enhancing a farmhouse, traditional, or European-inspired interior. Fredericus Jacobus van Rossum du Chattel (1856–1917) was a Dutch landscape painter associated with the Hague School. Renowned for his tranquil river scenes and rural Dutch vistas, he captured the reflective light and atmospheric beauty of the lowlands with poetic realism. His works were widely exhibited and admired in the Netherlands and abroad, and his imagery was frequently reproduced on ceramics and prints, often marked “naar du Chattel” to indicate they were inspired by his original compositions. Measure: 15.5" diameter.
