About the Item

A wonderful art nouveau - Jugendstil design from Cologne made in circa 1902 by the Rheinische Glashuetten AG Koeln-Ehrenfeld. The company executed works by famous designers like Peter Behrens, Joseph Maria Olbrich and Koloman Moser, however for this rather playful floral design the designer remains yet unknown. The top of this particular Liqueur glass was made from clear glass, cased with a dark violet layer of glass, then acid etched to the decoration of a blossom. The stem was made from green uranium glass, attached and skillfully tooled at the stand. These decorative glass objects are well documented in Literature about Jugendstil - Liberty - art nouveau and can be found in different Museum collections. Cf.: U. Schroeder, Trinkglaeser vom Jugendstil zum Art Deco, p. 65.

Val Saint Lambert Vase 'Oignon de Jemeppe', Jemeppe-sur-Meuse, 1909-1927
By Val Saint Lambert
Located in Aachen, DE
A tall and slender vase "Oignons de Jemeppe" from a series of soliflora vessels made by a branch of Val Saint Lambert in Jemeppe-sur-Meuse near Liège from 1909-1927. The design is sometimes attributed to Leon Ledru, more often to the portfolio of Romain & Jeanne Gevaert. As a reference in literature "L'Europe de l'art verrier", Giuseppe Cappa, Mardaga éditeur, Liège, 1991, page 483, N° 880 is a good source. These works with their humorous title Onions of Jemeppe are always opaque, this particular one is made from cased glass : Colorless and opal beige and rolled in dark blue pulled glass applications. The vessel is signed: VSL (blue stamp...

Daum water glass, Art Nouveau period, Nancy manufacture, circa 1900
By Daum
Located in Paris, FR
This emerald green-tinted blown glass wine glass exemplifies the exceptional craftsmanship of the Daum manufactory in Nancy around 1900. Its ribbed design lends a subtly animated texture, while delicate gold highlights - applied using the combed decoration technique - gracefully accent the rim and base. This model closely resembles the renowned Gui glassware service designed by Edmond Lachenal (1855 - c.1955), an esteemed ceramicist and painter. For this commission, Lachenal collaborated with the Daum glassworks and the Keller & Guérin manufactory in Lunéville for the faience components. This iconic Art Nouveau service is now housed in the Musée d’Orsay, following a donation by dealer Rispal in 2005. For collectors or hosts seeking a complete set, we also offer matching pieces: champagne coupes...
