About the Item
This is a fine and beautiful Irish cut-glass or crystal decanter with a lozenge stopper, dating to the Georgian period, Circa 1800.
The decanter has a "Prussian" body shape, with multiple layers or stepped sections of cutting. Starting from the base rim with flutes, then a row of diamond cutting followed by alternating layers of cut panels and plain sections up to the neck. The base is concave with no cutting and displays the rubbing wear associated with over 200 years of use. .
The decanter has a lozenge stopper and is a very good fit to the decanter.
The decanter is made from Lead glass with a soft grey color and is heavy weighing over 1.3Kg unpacked.
Overall a fine quality decanter from the Georgian period, holding over 1.2 Litre of fluid.

This is a very good hand-blown, English mid-Georgian Jelly glass, dating to the last quarter of the 18th century, circa 1780.
These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour.
The glass has a bell bowl above a flattened cushion knop which forms a rudimentary stem. The stem leads to a conical foot having a rough snapped off pontil mark to the underside. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration.
