About the Item
Fabulous large Fachschule Haida Enamel box and cover. Enamelled and gilded with stylised black dots and cute polychrome butterfly panels -This dates to around 1910. The Butterfly design and similar ones are well document and are featured in many books on Bohemian glass. We have never seen one as a box and cover before
The Fachschule Haida was the workshop of the famous Haida glass school - to promote their skills and generate income the Professors at the school would create designs and the students would cut and enamel them -there was no factory - all the work was done and the pieces created by the Professors and their students -It was one of only three Bohemian glass schools; it was later renamed Nový Bor and still exists today
