Claude Novaro (1943- )
A large and important piece, this piece is dated 1999 and signed on the bottom.
Jean Claude Novaro was born in 1943 at Antibes, France and
apprenticed at the age of 14 under Eloi Monod in Biot. He became a Master of Glass at 20 years of age and opened his own glass factory just ten years later. Since that time, Novaro has developed a style known not for its delicacy, but for its weight, depth and complex layering of color in a totally unique expressionist manner.
Novaro has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres
(Knight of Arts and Humanities) by the French government. His work appears in glass museums around the world.
