About the Item
A very stylish mid-century Italian silver overlay brown glass liqueur decanter, and five matching glasses made in Murano and dating from around 1950. The set comprises of a hand-blown glass decanter of bell shape standing on a flat round base and with a short narrow funnel top and trumpet shape rim. The body of the decanter is decorated with a Venetian seascape scene with a gondola in the foreground and Venice behind. The scene is set within a floral surround with a hollow blown stopper also overlaid in silver. The small heavy based beaker shaped glasses each are similarly decorated with matching floral designs. None of the items are marked.
The glasses measure height 6.5cm and diameter 4.5cm.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market
In good condition a with light wear associated with age and use.
