About the Item

Priest's Hat Shaped Serving Plate in Amethyst Blown Murano Glass Italy 1980s Completely handcrafted in the 1980s, this original serving plate is the result of the finest blown glass tradition from Murano, the Venetian island famous for its unrivalled glass production. This deep serving plate owes its beauty to its very original shape, which in Italy is called “cappello del prete” (priest's hat). The large wing surrounding the plate and its narrower bowl makes it especially suitable for serving gourmet pasta dishes, keeping the pasta concentrated in the center (the plate has a total diameter of 46.5 cm while the base is 15cm). Certainly, the plate can also be used for decorative purposes only. This kind of plate is nowadays very popular in restaurants and replaces the classic soup plate. The elegance of the shape is then complemented by the originality of the embossed straight-line decoration, which merge towards the center of the plate, where the amethyst colour of the glass is intensified. The line decoration, combined with the shades of different intensity of the glass, creates a beautiful effect of movement that comes over the entire plate. With its innovative design, this serving plate is the ideal object to bring originality and vitality to your table. The plate, as documented in the attached pictures, in excellent conditions.
