Harrach Glass Vase Decorated with Classical Figures c1890
By Harrach Glassworks
Located in Worcester Park, GB
Unusual example of an olive green two handled enamelled vase by Harrach, depicting two classical figures: one a bearded warrior and the other a older woman, both in white over orange. The vase is additionally finely enamel decorated around the top and on the back with stylised patterns. The two handles are hot applied. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrated its tri-centenary in 2012. Before Ludwig Moser was allowed to have his own Glassworks he, like almost everyone else in the region, bought his blanks from Harrach. In fact we will probably never know how much glass, supposedly made my other great glass makers of Europe, were in fact made and finished in the Harrach Glassworks including Emile Galle. We do know that vast ranges of Legras was made by Harrach, probably under licence and possibly the majority of the glass we think of as Fratelli Tosso...

Bohemian Art Nouveau Harrach Orange to Clear Cameo Glass Vase, 1900
By Harrach Glassworks
Located in Worcester Park, GB
A vibrant Art Nouveau orange/pink over clear Harrach cameo vase. Depicting flowers highlighted with gilding. This style of Cameo was taken by Harrach to the 1900 Paris exhibition. Their stylized cameo technique employed an icicle effect -visible just below the orange band in most of the pictures. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrates its tri-centenary in 2012. Bohemian Art Nouveau Harrach Blue and White Botanical Cameo Glass Vase, 1860
By Harrach Glassworks
Located in Worcester Park, GB
A rare early Victorian Harrach cameo vase in blue, cased on both sides with opaque white, and cut to blue on the outside to reveal a stylised decoration and a floral/botanical scene -highlighted in gilding. Generally Cameos were considered to have been invented by the Romans and then recreated by the British in the last quarter of the 19th century. The reality is Cameos were being produced in Bohemian much earlier than that -this Harrach vases...
