Vintage Big Murano Bowl in Blue and Yellow "Sommerso" Glass, Flavio Poli Style
About the Item
Vintage big, thick and very attractive Murano bowl, made in the "Sommerso" technique where colored layers of glass - in this case blue and yellow - are "submerged" in a crystal clear outer layer. Masters of this technique where designer Flavio Poli and glassmaker Archimede Seguso, whose works earned them the coveted "Compasso d'Oro" award. These fluid shapes, especially, are a recurrent style in Seguso's production, yet being the piece unsigned a certain attribution is difficult.
The piece is very well preserved, and thanks to its bright colors and sinuous shapes is a sculpture in its own right; it can, nevertheless, be used as a regular bowl or vide poche. There are no signs of damage, and only an even patina and minor scratches are visible throughout.
