About the Item
The plates were produced by Villeroy & Boch at their Schramberg factory and is characteristic of the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style, which was popular around the turn of the 20th Century.
It is made of Majolica, a type of earthenware, and features a raised decoration of water lily flowers and foliage, often with vibrant, varied lead glazes.
Victorian Majolica, a broader category, was produced between 1849 and 1900, placing this plate within that historical period.
