About the Item

These impressive porcelain dinner plates are by the Paris porcelain manufacturer Feuillet. Feuillet produced goods during the Restauration period, the name given to the period when France was ruled by the two brothers of Louis XVI: Louis XVIII, who reigned between 1815 and 1823, and Charles X, who ruled from 1823 until 1830. The Restauration style refers back to the Neoclassicism of the late ancien regime, which the present service demonstrates beautifully Jean-Pierre Feuillet (1777-1840) was a prominent porcelain decorator in Paris, known for his highly refined dinner services. He established his porcelain decoration studio on the Rue de la Paix in Paris in 1814, under the patronage of the Prince de Condé. Feuillet decorated "blanks" (undecorated porcelain pieces) sourced from various factories, including Nast and Darte Frères. The Prince of Conde gave Feuillet his protection, thus assuring a constant flow of high-end clients. Feuillet's design atelier reached its apex in the mid-1820s, lavishly decorating some of the most remarkable plates of the time. The combination of raised-paste gilding, saturated border colors and meticulous fruit or floral still-life paintings made the factory's output one of the favorite choices, other than Sèvres, for purchase by the new French Regime. According to de Plinval de Guillebon, "Feuillet was one of the best decorators in the Restauration period." 6 plates d 24,2 cm (9,53 inches) Items are in good antique condition Please check carefully all photos
