(up to 5 Kg) About :: It is thought that Grottaglie ceramics have been produced in Grottaglie since at least the 15th century. Ceramics are a significant contributor to the local economy, with a protected designation of origin (DOC), which has positioned the town as a leading destination in Puglia and a popular tourist attraction. In addition to white earthenware, some of which is painted and subtly patterned, ceramics with honey to mustard, red and green glazes, including objects such as pomo and neoclassical craters and vases, are typical of Grottaglie ceramics. There is also evidence to suggest that ceramics were produced in Grottaglie and sold in Taranto in the 15th century, as evidenced by a document from 1463. It seems reasonable to suggest that by the 16th century at the latest, the art of ceramics was well established in the town. It might be said that a special district of ceramic manufacturers developed under the Episcopal Castle of Grottaglie. It is thought that the first known faience maker was Giovan Antonio Cicala, who was born in 1663. By the 18th century, tableware production, which was exported to Greece and Asia Minor, had become an important part of the local economy. In 1879, the ceramics industry in the town of 10,000 inhabitants employed 3,000 workers, many of whom came from the surrounding rural areas. Their annual production, which was valued at 700,000 lire, was mainly destined for a market area that included Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. One of the most renowned products was the capasone, a glazed amphora with a colour ranging from honey to mustard, which was used to store liquids such as wine and oil. On 20 June 1884, the town council decided to set up "model kilns" to bring the local ceramics industry up to date with new technical standards. Three years later, the Roman Camille De Rossi (1862-1899) set up a private laboratory in Grottaglie to improve ceramics, followed in 1887 by the creation of a municipal school of arts and crafts. Inaugurated in 1888, closed from 1893 to 1913 and then reopened, the school combined the local heritage of knowledge and techniques of ceramic production with modern manufacturing processes and artisan theory. The teachers were Anselmo De Simone (1859-1919) and Emanuele Di Palma (1887-1956). In 2012 the school merged with the Liceo "Lisippo" of Taranto to form the Liceo Artistico "Vincenzo Calò", based in Grottaglie. Ceramic design is one of the six subjects taught there. your pleasure is our de-lite

The construction of Landshut began in 1204 under the rule of Duke Ludwig of Bavaria. It was a typical Wittelsbach founding town and marked a new form of territorial politics for the Bavarian dukes. From 1231, Landshut became the residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty and the capital of the Duchy of Bavaria until 1255. Due to the division of Bavarian lands, Landshut alternated between being a capital and a residential town. The town thrived thanks to its location on the Isar River and its strategic positioning along trade routes. By the 14th century, Landshut had developed its Gothic town center, which remained largely unchanged until the 19th century. During the period from 1392 to 1503, Landshut experienced a prosperous and politically important era under the rule of the three "rich" Dukes Heinrich, Ludwig, and Georg. Landshut also gained prestige through the magnificent wedding of Duke George the Rich to the daughter of the Polish king...
