About the Item
An original signed lidded stoneware vessel by Ken Thompson. I appreciate this piece for the quality craftsmanship, speckled glaze, and witty shapes. It's a wonderful blend of mid-century stoneware and postmodern fun.
Previously a self employed studio potter making functional & decorative ceramics and former Pewabic Pottery student (1970-1974) and apprentice to John Glick. Ken Thompson spent much of his career as a lead automotive design sculptor at general motors.
Clients included the Detroit Institute of Arts, Rozmallin and Beaver Tile-Troy Design Center, Herald Wholesale, and numerous art galleries and design firms throughout the U.S.Commissions and limited editions for Detroit Bank and Trust, Detroit Institute of Arts, General Motor’s Corporation, Kresge Eye Institute, Hudson’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Clown Corps and private collectors.
