An exceptional, fine antique George III English sterling silver brandy pan made by Henry Chawner; an addition to our collection of Georgian silverware This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver brandy pan has a plain circular form with a flared rim. The surface of the pan is plain and embellished with an applied molded border to the lower portion, accented with tooled decoration. The pan is fitted with the original baluster shaped turned painted wood handle with a plain cylindrical sterling silver terminal accented with further turned decoration, in addition to a heart shaped socket in junction with the body. Condition This antique brandy pan is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. The body of this Victorian silver mustard pot is plain and encompassed with protruding panels, in the architectural style. This sterling silver mustard pot is fitted with a subtly domed hinged hallmarked cover, bearing a continuation of the panelled design to a central point. The cover is surmounted with an impressive sterling silver applied leaf thumbpiece. Rare, very early George I period silver brandy/spirits warmer, Joseph Clare I, London, 1714. Wonderful, historically interesting 308 years barware piece. Classic circular tapering form with a shaped base, heavy solid silver with a beautifully turned oak handle.
