Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Rhinoceros Pin Cushion

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Edwardian pin cushion modelled in the form of a rhinoceros; an addition to our animal related silverware collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian sterling silver pin cushion has been realistically modelled in the form of a rhinoceros. The hallmarked sterling silver body of this antique silver pin cushion is embellished with embossed decoration reproducing the details of the rhino's anatomical features and skin folds. The rhino's back is fitted with an oval cushion, lined with replacement green velvet. The side of the mammal bears the registration number 'RD528848', in addition to the full hallmarks. Such examples are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate. The sterling silver rhino pin cushion is a unique and finely crafted gift, ideal for sewing enthusiasts, antique collectors or admirers of whimsical silverware. Both functional and decorative, it serves as a distinctive keepsake or statement piece. Condition This antique silver rhino pin cushion is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the side of the body are all very clear. A fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver sugar caster, an addition to our silver teaware collection. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot. The upper and lower portions of this piece are embellished with embossed and chased bead and scroll decoration accenting concave bordered, fluted decoration all in a spiral design. The sugar caster retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover, embellished with pierced decoration incorporating chased and embossed bead and scroll decoration, the screw fit attachment indicates the fine quality of this piece. The cover is further ornamented with a gadroon decorated border to the rim and is surmounted by a fine and impressive scroll decorated shaped baluster style finial. A fine and impressive pair of antique Edwardian English sterling silver shell peppers; an addition to our novelty silver cruets/condiments collection. These exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian sterling silver peppers are stylistically modelled in the form of 12-gauge shells. The upper portion of each pepper is embellished with pierced 'pepper' holes. Each pepper pot retains the original fully hallmarked screw fit detachable base. Each base retains the original gilding representing the brass of the shell and the body of each bears the original oxidised finish; examples with this combination is rare to the market. Such examples in this exceptional and almost unused condition are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. These items have been crafted as a matching pair and will have been crafted in fewer years, however, due to the hallmarking system one pepper is struck with the date letter 'g' (1902) and the other bears the date letter 'i' (1906). Condition These antique Edwardian shell silver peppers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full silver hallmarks to the surface of each body and base are very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of antique cruets...
