Antique Sterling Silver Camel Form Singing Bird Automaton
About the Item
Our antique (late 19th century) German-made automaton in the form of a realistically modeled camel with original winding key, approximately 11 by 10 by 5 inches, has a silver and fabric song bird that rises from below the lid on top to turn and tweet a bright song with moving wings and beak. In excellent working condition. Marked on one foot 925 with crescent moon and crown dating the piece to no earlier than 1884. We have not found a maker's mark. Likely from Hanau, Germany.
