About the Item

Elegant silver jardinière in the strict architectural Art Nouveau style, elongated honeycomb-shaped basic form, supported by two profiled uprights at the corners, which greatly elevate the wall in hight, and two broader supporting elements at the front and back – openwork laurel wreath framed by curved pilasters that widen at the top into brackets to to support the vessel - the six-sided wall decorated with geometric details, partly in the form of segmental openings, the austere design loosened up by the more detailed laurel wreaths in the feet, as well as the sculpted festoons on the brackets of the uprights, which also serve as handles. The original glass insert fits perfectly, with an elaborately designed, playful upper edge with cut bow and flower decoration, a curved star at the bottom with stylised buds in a lens cut.
