About the Item
Danish Modern hand-hammered sterling silver sauce bowl on stand. Made by Carl Poul Petersen in Canada, ca 1940. Tapering ovoid bowl with flared ends and scalloped rim. Stylized leaf between buds applied to sides. Concave ovoid leaf between two buds applied to sides. Round and integral stand with turned up rim. A great piece by the legendary Danish-born silversmith who was Georg Jensen’s apprentice and son-in-law. He married the boss’ daughter Inger in 1922. The couple emigrated to Canada in 1929, where he worked independently and for Birks. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and phrase “Hand Made”. Weight: 9 troy ounces.
