A rare opportunity to acquire an Edwardian Oak tray with solid silver fittings, rather than silver plate usually found. Everything you see in "silver" is solid English silver, a good heavy gauge, there is a good weight of silver here, there are many hallmarks for Sheffield 1904 together with the maker's mark for the well renowned Martin Hall. Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall (Martin, Hall & Co.) The original firm was formed in Sheffield in the year 1820 by Henry Wilkinson and John Roberts who traded as Wilkinson & Roberts. This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver and mother of pearl fruit/dessert flatware set / service consists of twelve knives and twelve forks. The blades of the knives have a rounded form and the forks each have four tines/prongs. The anterior surface of each knife is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved foliate decoration accented with a simplified border to one side. The anterior surface of each fork is ornamented with a bright cut engraved stemmed floral design accented with single leaves.
