Circa 1846-57 set of 2 tablespoons & 2 serving spoons, coin silver, Skinner & Sweet, Boston, MA. Handsome & heavy; lightly double-swelled; uptipt fiddleback with obverse engraving "Towne". The Townes were one of Salem & Boston's oldest families. Marked Skinner & Sweet. Alvah Skinner & James Sweet. Maker's marks on tablespoons are rubbed but distinguishable. 6.35 troy oz. Serving: 8 7/8" x 1 5/8" x 1.25". Table: 8 3/8" x 1 11/16" x 1 1/8". We are a family business that has been a major source for the selective buyer for over 90 years.
