About the Item

20th century sterling silver table clock 925/1000 with fire enamel painted as lapis lazuli, Swiss quartz movement "Nepro". Made in Italy. The Miniatures are hand-painted on a usually white homogeneous enamel base. The same colored glazes are used, but ground much finer, which are mixed with special oils to form an infinite palette of colors. The paint must be gradually dried on electric stoves so that the oil evaporates, but must also be baked in a high temperature oven several times so that the amount of color is never excessive because it would risk spreading with the liquidation. A beautiful miniature varies from 20 to 50 cooking. They are inserted between the different layers of "PAILLONS" (= PAGLIUZZE) D'ORO PURO thickness of a few hundredths of a millimeter, normally depicting leaves, flowers, stars, motifs of various kinds, but always very small, which, applied to a some distance from each other on a dark background, and subsequently covered with a transparent layer, have a decorative effect that is sometimes particularly pleasant.
