About the Item

The Miniature Silver Hanukkah Lamp, crafted by I. M. Fain in Israel circa 1950, is a delicate and beautifully detailed piece of Judaica. The piece reflects mid-20th-century Israeli craftsmanship, with intricate filigree embossments which include floral patterns, geometric designs, and symbolic motifs. The menorah’s compact size suggests it was made for personal or travel use, adding to its charm and practicality. Made from sterling silver, the menorah is designed in a traditional style, featuring eight circular candle holders for the eight nights of Hanukkah, with a central, elevated holder for the shamash (servant candle) used to light the others. The body and backplate of the Hanukkah lamp is beautifully adorned with filigree floral and lined patterns. Two rampant lions flanking a Decalogue are applied at the top center crowned with a Star of David. The words "Haneirot Hallalu" enhance the lower half of the backplate on a background of miniature filigree floral wreaths. Its historical context places it in a period shortly after the founding of the State of Israel, making it not only a religious artifact but also a symbol of Jewish cultural identity during a time of significant national significance. The craftsmanship by I. M. Fain, a recognized name in silverwork, further enhances its value as both a spiritual and artistic object. Marked at bottom of the Hanukkah Lamp 3.18ozt
