About the Item

A pair of vintage sterling silver dishes designed in the shape of stylized leaves. Each dish is divided into three lobes or sections, radiating from a central point and sculpted with deep, scalloped fluting that creates a rich, dimensional texture. The edges are softly undulating, giving a naturalistic, organic feel reminiscent of flower petals or leaves, while the “stem” section is slightly pointed and flared, adding a realistic touch. The high-polish finish enhances their visual appeal, creating reflective surfaces that catch the light beautifully. The craftsmanship is mid-20th-century American silver by Frank Smith Silver possibly for serving nuts, candies, or hors d’oeuvres. These dishes are identical in shape and style, and sold as a matching set.

Pair of Scalloped Sterling Silver Platters with Repousse Fruit Motifs
Located in Dallas, TX
First produced in 1907 by the American silversmith company, Reed & Barton, this pair of sterling silver platters has repousse fruit motifs. Repousse is a metalwork technique where the verso (back) side is hammered to produce low relief images that can be seen when viewing the front. Curled leaves and C-scrolls seamlessly alternate along the outside of the platter to form scalloped edges. Beneath the crenelle are segmented sections (eight in total) that are adorned with alternating images of a cluster of fruit followed by a tall pinnate leaf.
