About the Item

Traditional form. The Shel Yad has decorations that include: Moses being cast into the river in a basket by his mother, Moses as a young man in front of the Burning Bush (with a shin emitting from the flames), Hebrew inscriptions FROM ZION SHALL COME TORAH AND THE WORD OF G-D FROM JERUSALEM. The Shel Rosh is decorated with Moses holding the Decalogue, birds surrounding a Shin, and an engraving in Hebrew “BLESSED IS THE ONE THAT HAS GIVEN THE TORAH TO ISRAEL IN ITS HOLINESS. Each is signed in Hebrew “Schor” with a bird.

A Very Rare Pair of Silver Tefillin Covers made by Bezalel in Jerusalem, Circa 1925. The Acid-etched technique with which these tefillin covers were made accompanied by the classic Bezalel design is truly remarkable. Probably 1 or 2 of these tefillin covers were ever made by Bezalel in this fashion in the early 20th Century.
