Traditional form. The Shel Yad has decorations that include: Moses being cast into the river in a basket by his mother, Moses as a young man in front of the Burning Bush (with a shin emitting from the flames), Hebrew inscriptions FROM ZION SHALL COME TORAH AND THE WORD OF G-D FROM JERUSALEM. The Shel Rosh is decorated with Moses holding the Decalogue, birds surrounding a Shin, and an engraving in Hebrew “BLESSED IS THE ONE THAT HAS GIVEN THE TORAH TO ISRAEL IN ITS HOLINESS. Each is signed in Hebrew “Schor” with a bird.

A Very Rare Pair of Silver Tefillin Covers made by Bezalel in Jerusalem, Circa 1925.
The Acid-etched technique with which these tefillin covers were made accompanied by the classic Bezalel design is truly remarkable.
Probably 1 or 2 of these tefillin covers were ever made by Bezalel in this fashion in the early 20th Century.
Featured on the outside of the four sides of the tefillin covers are beautiful chased motifs of grape clusters on hanging vines, pomegranates growing on trees, palm trees with hanging date clusters, and fig bushes with figs sprouting from their branches.

Ludwig Yehuda Wolpert was born in Hildesheim, Germany, to an Orthodox family. In 1916-1920, He began his studies in sculpture at the Frankfurt School of Art. In 1925-1928, he studied Goldsmithing at the Frankfurt School of Art.
Following the presentation of the works in the 1930 exhibition "Kult und Form" ("Ritual and Form") at the Jewish Museum in Berlin, his works became well known in the German Jewish World. His works were greatly influenced by Modernist design, especially the Bauhaus Movement. Wolpert's works avoid decoration, relying on clean, geometric shapes. In 1933, Following the Nazi rise to power in Germany, he immigrated to the Mandatory Palestine with His family.
