About the Item

This elegant silver earring, crafted in the Caucasus region (Kavkaz) circa 1900, is a striking example of regional jewelry artistry, combining sculptural form with delicate detailing in a distinctly folkloric style. The earring features a large open loop at the top, gracefully curved and anchored to one side with stylized foliate branch motifs. These botanical elements extend organically toward the center, merging ornamentation with structural integrity. At the base of the loop, a flat, triangular silver pendant is affixed, its surface adorned with rosette roundels, adding rhythmic texture and visual richness. Beneath the triangular element, a precise row of small, sphere-like dangles is connected seamlessly to form a soft arc. This element lends the piece a refined sense of motion and femininity while balancing the bold geometry above. The closure mechanism reflects traditional techniques of the region: one end of the loop is perforated, designed to be secured through a side loop on the opposite end using a small pin or fastening element (now missing), ensuring that the earring could be worn securely and comfortably. .52ozt
