Silver Jardiniere with Swan Busts and Glass Liner, Pietrasanta & C., Italy, 1950

About the Item

Solid silver vessel in an oval basic form with a wide, bulbous body, offset, domed, round base with hump decoration and palmette decorative strip on the outside of the base ring, hump decoration in the lower half of the vessel body in one step, upper half of the vessel smooth and with a slightly curved edge with raised panels merging in the middle, palmette decorative strip running around the upper edge, in the area of the gradation two raised, widening bundles of branches on the sides, crowned by swan busts with outstretched wings, which, resting on the upper edge of the vessel, serve as handles. Glass insert with a curved upper edge adapted to the edges of the silver body.
