An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage George VI English sterling silver Art Deco three piece condiment set - boxed; an addition to our dining vintage silverware collection.
This exceptional vintage George VI three piece sterling silver condiment set consists of a salt, a pepper pot and a mustard pot.
The pieces of this fine silver condiment set have a rectangular-shaped form to a paralleling pedestal foot.
The surface of each piece is plain and embellished with a concave fluted decoration comprising concentric circular motifs, all in the desirable and iconic Art Deco style.
The mustard pot is fitted with an impressive angular handle and a hinged hallmarked plain cover.
The pepper pot is fitted with a push fit cover with pierced 'pepper' holes.
The covers to the pepper pot and mustard pot are surmounted with a sterling silver faceted Art Deco style finial.
The salt and mustard pot are fitted with removable blue glass liners.
This Art Deco silver condiment set retains the original salt and mustard spoons.
These fine examples of vintage silverware are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinged catches.
Each piece of this exceptional set, including the original spoons, were crafted by the Birmingham silversmith Ernest W Haywood; these pieces will have been crafted in fewer years but due to the hallmarking system the spoons bear the date letter for 1946 (W), the salt and pepper display the letter for 1947 (X) and the mustard pot feature the letter for 1948 (Y).
Such original examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
Condition
The pieces of this Art Deco silver condiment set are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and exceptional condition.
Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The original fitted box is also in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and the reverse of each spoon, in addition to part hallmarks to each cover are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this boxed silver condiment set - 3 piece.

This exceptional vintage George VI sterling silver three-piece condiment set consists of a salt, a pepper pot and a mustard pot.
The pieces of this fine silver condiment set have a plain cylindrical tapering form onto a circular foot.
The surface of each piece is embellished with concentric bands of tooled decoration, all in the iconic Art Deco style.
The mustard pot is fitted with an angular handle with a plain upper plateau.
The mustard pot retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover, ornamented with tiered concentric circular decoration and surmounted with an Art Deco style tapering cylindrical finial.
The pepper pot is fitted with a push fit cover with pierced 'pepper' holes.
The salt and mustard pot are fitted with removable blue glass liners.
This vintage silver condiment set is supplied with associate salt and mustard spoons.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George VI English sterling silver christening set in the Art Deco style, boxed; an addition to our collection of silver christening gifts.
This exceptional antique George VI sterling silver christening set consists of a napkin ring, an egg cup and a spoon.
The surfaces of the napkin ring and egg cup are plain and embellished with applied crown motifs incorporating the date ‘1937’ and initials ‘GVI’*.
The plain rounded egg cup is ornamented with an elongated indented border to the pedestal and is supported by a stepped octagonal foot, all in the Art Deco style.
The napkin ring has a plain quadrilateral shaped form with a convex curved anterior surface, bearing the aforementioned motif.
The spoon is embellished with the engraved initials ‘GVI’ amidst collared bands to the stem and features an impressive crown shaped terminal.
The reverse surface of the spoon is plain and features a tapering heel to the bowl.
The pieces of this antique Art Deco style christening set are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, secured with a push fit catch.
The anterior maroon leatherette surface of the box cover is embellished with a central cream panel encompassed with a gold scrolling border and accented with the royal cypher depicting ‘GVIR, 1937’ below the royal coronet.
The interior of the cover bears the retailer’s mark ‘By appointment to H.M The King, The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd, 112 Regent Street, London, W.1’.
This impressive christening set was crafted by the renowned and highly collectable silversmith Robert Edgar Stone; the posterior surface of the napkin ring bears R. E. Stone’s signature in addition to the full hallmarks.
Each component of this set will have been crafted in the same year but due to the hallmarking system the egg cup and napkin ring are struck with the date letter ‘b’ and the spoon bears ‘a’.
This set was crafted to commemorate the coronation of George VI (1895-1952), which took place at Westminster Abbey in London on 12th May 1937
