About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of vintage English cast sterling silver tennis trophies / presentation table ornaments; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection
These exceptional vintage cast sterling silver tennis trophies/presentation table ornaments have a figural form to a hexahedron base.
The body of each trophy has been realistically modelled in the form of a male figure playing tennis; one figure is in a serving stance and the other is in a backhand position.
The male figures are ornamented with details reproducing the shirt and trouser sporting attire and anatomical features, in addition to fine ornamentation to the rackets.
Each ornament is further embellished with a terrain texture in junction with the plinth base.
The silver trophies are fitted to four-sided marble bases, paralleling the length of the models span.
The rim of the terrain textured sterling silver base of each table ornament bears engraved initials 'BW'.
Condition
These sterling silver tennis trophies is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
There are minor abrasions to the square-shaped marble base; the other remains in perfect condition.
Full hallmarks struck to each base are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of vintage silverware.
