About the Item
From the Creil region of Northern France, a set of 8 transfer printed and hand colored polychrome plates, depicting various vivid Spanish artisanal outfits, for example a winemaker, a shepherdess, a peasant etc.
The plates date to around 1830-1840. Each plate is titled and numbered, a wide hand-colored floral running border with a yellow rim. Wonderful bright colors on a crisp and raised transfer.
