LATE 17th CENTURY EMBOSSED BRASS FOOD WARMER
About the Item
Ancient brass food warmer, worked and embossed by hand, characterized by an elegant and refined style. It has a round body supported by a ring foot, a lid with a handle and two handles to facilitate the grip. The decoration, made with the embossing technique, embellishes the neck and body of the object with plant festoons, which enhance its aesthetics. The lid, which has small holes to allow hot steam to escape, is also adorned with embossing depicting spirals and plant racemes. In the past, embers were placed inside the food warmer, while the food to be kept warm was arranged in the upper part; the object could also be used as a foot or hand warmer. This object of great antiquity and taste can also be used today as a centerpiece or flower holder, by removing the lid. It is attributed to Tuscan manufacture from the late 17th century.
