About the Item
A very stylish studio pottery porcelain mug decorated with columns design by Susan Parkinson for the Richard Parkinson Pottery and made between 1953 and 1962. This delightful handled mug of slight conical shape was made when Sue and Richard worked together at their pottery in Ashford in Kent and is decorated with architectural columns in black on a white ground. The mug has impressed makers marks to the base.

BIOGRAPHY
Randy was born in 1913 and died in 1997. He obtained his MFA, Master's of Fine Art, at Alfred University in 1937 and was Instructor of Industrial Design 1949-1951, and Instructor in Pottery 1951-1956. Randy was nationally known for his paintings and ceramics, named the nation's CERAMIC ARTIST OF THE YEAR IN 1949 BY NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE. His career was dedicated to art and the creation of the Hartsville Museum.
